Welcome to the International Windsprite Club!

The International Windsprite Club (IWC) is the international parent club and registry for Windsprites. The IWC is committed to promoting this incredibly versatile breed, uniting those who engage in conformation, performance, breeding, and keeping Windsprites as beloved companions, as well as those who are simply interested in learning more about these enchanting dogs.

The Windsprite is a mid-sized, coated sighthound breed founded in the United States beginning in the 1960s. Though closely related to the short-haired, similarly-sized Whippet, Windsprites are an entirely separate breed with a reputation for combining sighthound elegance, intensity, and athleticism with added biddability. Their temperaments and energy levels tend to be well-suited to a wide variety of interests, from leisurely walks to fierce competition.

Members of the IWC enjoy an enormous range of activities with their Windsprites, including but not limited to coursing, agility, scentwork, obedience, running, hiking, freestyle, disc, and even dockdiving! If a round of fetch in the backyard followed by snuggles on the couch are more your speed, you’ll find that Windsprites are remarkably flexible and easygoing. These lovable, low-maintenance hounds are intelligent, sociable, affectionate, and full of personality! They make superlative companions and wonderful family pets.
